New shoes always make me feel better

After killing my workout, I came home to find that my gas had been turned off WTH? They were installing a new gas meter so they turned the gas off. When the gas company came back out, I was informed that my crappy landlord and her cheap ways meant that my water heater has been red tagged aka deemed hazardous which means no hot water for me. I’m so glad I’m looking at new places this weekend. Apparently the water heater in its makeshift plywood closet is close to igniting and burning down the whole house. Fortunately it’s also for the front house where my land lords BFF lives so hopefully it will get fixed. Argh! F you land lady!

At the gym the other day, one of the owners had gotten new shoes that Dana and I drooled over. She acted on the impulse immediately but I held out until today. After learning about my water heater, I immediately hopped on line and bought two new pairs of shoes.

Signature Shoe

One extremely exciting part of this transformation is discovering what my style is regarding clothes and shoes. I’d only seen clothes as something to hide behind and not a reflection of who I am. I gave little to no thought about what I would wear. My entire wardrobe consisted of jeans, polo shirts, athletic shoes and every possible type of West Covina High School apparel. I wasn’t interested in anything but covering up.

As my body transforms, an opportunity arises to find out what my style is. This is an area where team red has really, really supported and encouraged me to try new things. Round one shopping was with Dana in early January. On that trip I got a pair of Clark’s desert boots and I love love love them. If I find cool shoes I usually text a picture of them to Dana. I found a pair of blue Clark’s shoes and she suggested that I make them my signature shoe. I hadn’t given that much thought but it instantly felt right. I went on one long and awkward date with a woman whose signature accessory was a bow tie. These Clark’s are going to be my bow tie.

Here’s a picture of the next pair I want.
Be healthy. Be well. Find your signature.
